Tattoos are awesome. They are an incredible form of self expression. They tell a story without saying a single word. What is your story? Will the story you want to tell today with your tattoo be one you want to share 20 years from now.

Many people are caught up in the new revival of tattoos. They are going out and getting them on a whim and causing themselves a lot of embarrassment and agony in the long run. A tattoo design is a permanent fixture on your body. Yes you can have an artist re-work your tattoo or have it laser removed but that still requires more time and money and pain to fix an error in judgment.

Getting a tattoo on the spur of the moment prevents you from doing some serious research. Before you get a tattoo you could save yourself a lot of headaches and possibly prevent a major health risk by checking out a few things.

1. Is this something you won’t mind having on your body 20 years from now?

2. Is your artist qualified?

3. Is your tattoo parlor clean?

  1. Make sure you won’t mind having this tattoo on your body in the location you choose 20 years from now. Tattoos are permanent and you want to make sure what you think today will be something you can accept 20 years from now. You can always take your tattoo for a test drive to see if this something you really want or something you were dared to do on a Friday night. There are semi permanent tattoos that you can have printed and affixed to your body. If you like the tattoo, go have the tattoo design permanently done.
  2. Is your artist qualified to put something permanent on your body? Check around. View your artist sample drawings. Also ask for your artist’s reference book. You don’t want to put your money down and your body on the line for a wanna be tattoo artist.
  3. Take a peak at the shop. Is it clean? It better be. Make sure they are following critical health procedures. You don’t want to catch hepatitis or worse yet AIDS from a tattoo parlor that doesn’t follow proper health pro cautions.

Think first before you get a tattoo design permanently affixed to your body. Check out the tattoo parlor, tattoo artist and make sure your tattoo will be appropriate for years to come. Remember you can always try a temporary tattoo for a few weeks to make sure the tattoo design you selected is perfect.
