Often consultants or writers will claim expertise in a subject matter, topic or industry sub-sector that they know nothing about. Recently, a gentleman from England who is a writer and former marriage family counselor claimed during a dialogue that he turned into a rhetorical debate that his expertise could not be challenged? Indeed, this is interesting as Einstein tells us to challenge the experts, but some how he believed he was above any sort of challenging?

Besides claiming to be a sex therapist, dream psychologist and novelist, he also claimed to be a business consultant. Of course when we called him on this he could produce no references stating that they were confidential in nature? He said he could not disclose those clients, even those he may have worked for 30 years ago. Yet he also writes articles describing “patients and their problems” from his psychology practice. In fact he goes into great detail about a man who enjoyed getting nude massages and describes what went thru his mind when he got an erection and how it affected his sexual performance?

This same self-proclaimed sex therapist claims to be a corporate consultant and carries a degree in psychology and philosophy, the two easiest cop-out degrees one can take in college. Yet he claims expert status in all with no proof and refuses to be challenged. Instead he points to a book he wrote which sold some copies and is merely 100,000 words? Still he claims to have been a university teacher, but in reality, we cannot even verify this and even if he was, why was he forced to leave.

This is just one of the many examples out there of so-called experts and why Einstein was right that we challenge the experts. Indeed we have the right to do so, we must otherwise we all will get taken for a ride. Be very careful of the self-proclaimed expert who will not let you challenge them.
