The Artist, Musician or Composer is the product for sale and they should spend the majority of their time preparing, developing and promoting their product, which of course is for sale and the focus of revenue generation.
That activity in itself is not only an important ingredient of the success of the Artist; it also should take up the majority of thought and effort.
It is up to the Artist Manager to focus on the business of the Artist by developing the following revenue streams: Distribution of product " this is done through a distribution contract with a Major or Independent label. Publishing of product " done through the publishing arm of a Major or Independent label. Live Performance " preparing the Artist to promote the product through a Booking Agent. Perhaps it is born from having a warped sense of humor. Or, more likely, it may come from a deep inborn resistance to rules and authority. I always hated staying “within the lines” and simply could not resist the urge to distort or embellish reality.
Andy Warhol once stated that “everyone gets fifteen minutes of fame”. I’m still waiting on mine. My hopes for someday “emerging” as a serious artist and being recognized by an adoring public have long-since surrendered to the practical realities of being able to eat regularly and having a decent roof over my head. I can actually pinpoint the day my artistic Warhol aspirations were dragged whining into the light of practical reality. I was working on a portrait, a painting of a Native American woman. My sixteen-year-old son paused to see what I was painting. He stood for a moment studying her, then patted me on the back and said, “nice caricature, Dad.” Of all the artistic criticism I’ve ever received, that has been the most helpful. I have been focusing my efforts on drawing caricatures ever since.

William Bouguerau was born in 1925 and died in 1905 at La Rochelle. Throughout his life, he is regarded by many as the most influential supporter of traditional French Values in Art. The important values to the French included, accuracy and preciseness to perspective and finish. The finished artwork was to resemble exactly the model being presented. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Ars from 1843 to 1850 and then in Rome. He painted many works throughout his life and it would be a disservice to him to list them in any other order than date order.

It is six in the morning and I can hear the birds singing like crazy here on the Big Island of Hawaii. The koke, or coqui, frogs have gone to bed for the day. I cannot hear their constant kokee chirping, ah yes they are finally resting. This is an article about the Couqui/Koke and facts about Hawaii.
I am so used to Couqui frogs singing, “Kokee”, that I rarely notice them anymore.
My sister was on the phone with me once and said, “WHAT IS THAT!?” I actually had to think for a minute about what she was referring to .. it was the koke’ s (coqui’s).

John Constable was born in 1776 in Suffolk. His father was a successful merchant. As a small boy he was encouraged by his teacher, the local plumber and his indulgent parents to practice drawing. He was educated at Dedham Grammar School and after a short stint in the family flour-milling business was allowed to study art. His father was keen for John to remain in the family business, but if not, at least go into church-work, but he was also a loving father and listened to John’s reasons. He convinced his father to allow him to study art at the Royal Academy in London in 1799 and his younger brother took over the family business.

The rewards of creating music range from the deep satisfaction of writing a new song to the glowing pride of a successful performance. These feelings bolster our confidence, but do little to compensate for the financial investment often tied to making music. While selling your music via CDs and downloads is a good start, you should also consider investing in band merchandise to promote your band and cover the cost of instruments, rehearsal spaces, recording equipment and more.
